Southern California Resident Takes Seat as 2004/2005 Fluidmaster Flush Off Champion
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Oct. 6, 2004 -- Cory Rouse, Toluca Lake, Calif., is the winner of the 2004/2005 "Fluidmaster Flush Off," sponsored by Fluidmaster Inc., the world's leading manufacturer of toilet tank repair products. The 2004/2005 "Fluidmaster Flush Off" placed five finalists in head-to-head competition for the best vocal impression of a flushing toilet. The event kicks off October as National Toilet Repair Month.
Rouse, a guest services employee at Disneyland, gave a creative flushing impression that whirled around a Shakespeare-like fairy tale featuring characters "Swirliette & Plungeo." Rouse is formerly from Pensacola, Fla.
"National Toilet Repair Month is a way for Fluidmaster to motivate consumers to conduct a simple toilet tune-up, replacing old-fashioned components with well-engineered fill valves, flappers, levers and connectors," said Gary Harris, vice president, sales.
Repairing toilets may not be the most glamorous job in the house, yet it is the #1 "fix-it" plumbing task tackled by consumers annually. October was selected for National Toilet Repair Month because many homeowners tackle repairs at this time of year prior to the arrival of the holiday seasons and house guests. A complete toilet tune-up takes about 1 1/2 hours to complete and can be accomplished in four simple steps - 400A Fill Valve, Bull's Eye Super Flapper, Sure Fit Toilet Tank Flush Lever and No-Burst Braided Stainless Steel Water Supply Connector.
Finalists in the 2004/2005 "Fluidmaster Flush Off" performed their flushing feats in front of an enthusiastic crowd and a panel of three judges that included Professor Flush, who tackles toilet troubles at www.fluidmaster.com. Contestants were judged on two platforms, sound and creativity.
For his whirling impression, Rouse has been awarded a $1,000 cash prize. A $500 and $250 cash prize was awarded to second-place finisher Chuck Kovacic, of North Hills, Calif., and Erin O'Donnell, of Simi Valley, Calif., respectively. Other finalists included 15-year-old Anthony Tafoya, of Fresno, Calif., and Mark McConville, of Madison, Wis. All finalists were also awarded a box of toilet gear and a Fluidmaster toilet repair kit.
