Air Advantage now offers high-speed communications services in fifteen communities in Michigan's Thumb Area via WaveRider's non-line-of-sight wireless systems. The company's wireless network serves more than 600 broadband subscribers throughout the region. Air Advantage plans to expand its wireless services to eleven more communities in southeastern Michigan.

"We initially planned our wireless broadband network to help the small businesses and residents in our community that did not have access to affordable high-speed communications services," said Scott Zimmer, President, Air Advantage. "As a local business, our first priority was to build a network that would deliver the reliable services these subscribers needed, in the most cost-effective way possible. Deploying WaveRider's wireless system has enabled us to meet both of these criteria."

"Many of our service areas in Michigan are heavily treed, which is desirable for residents but poses a challenge to many wireless systems," added Zimmer. "WaveRider's wireless network has been proven to be the best solution for communities like ours because of its ability to transmit through the trees. The technology has also allowed us to quickly grow our networks to serve more customers, without having to re-invest in our infrastructure. The system will also enable us to offer more advanced communications services as new technologies become available."

Air Advantage has played an important role in making broadband access available to small and rural communities in Michigan's Thumb Area. The company recently received funding to continue its expansion from the RUS (Rural Utilities Service) telecommunications programs offered by the United States Department of Agriculture. The loan program is designed to promote the delivery of broadband services to rural communities throughout the United States. Air Advantage has utilized the RUS funding to serve the Huron, Tuscola and Sanilac counties and plans to expand into neighboring counties.

"Companies like Air Advantage are playing a significant role in the proliferation of broadband services throughout North America, and their efforts are being recognized by their customers, their communities and by many state, provincial and federal organizations," said Charles Brown, Executive Vice President. "WaveRider continues to enhance our existing product lines with new features and capabilities, to enable our customers to expand the reach and capabilities of their WaveRider systems, while supporting a profitable business model that will allow them to grow."

The world leader in fixed wireless Non-Line-of-Sight Technology

WaveRider's Last Mile Solution(R) is the world's first fixed wireless broadband product to deliver true non-line-of-sight Internet connections in the license-exempt spectrum. WaveRider's LMS is distinguished in the non-line-of-sight category by its user-installed indoor antenna, which enables broadband connections through buildings, tree canopies and other line-of-sight barriers.

WaveRider's LMS systems have been deployed by hundreds of service providers in the United States, Canada, South America, the Caribbean and other international markets. WaveRider's customers have now made wireless broadband service accessible to hundreds of thousands of potential subscribers across the country.
