ATA's Technology & Maintenance Council and Continental DataGraphics Launch Internet-based Maintenance Information Portal
ALEXANDRIA, Va. --(Business Wire)-- June 22, 2004 -- Industry-Sponsored TMC FleetPortal Provides Fleets with One-Stop Online Access to Technical Information
The Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) of American Trucking Associations, (ATA) and Continental DataGraphics have launched an Internet-based technical information site for fleet maintenance professionals, TMC announced today.
TMC FleetPortal will operate under the auspices of TMC to provide a secure, easy-to-use parts and maintenance information utility customized to the needs of individual fleet subscribers. It aggregates technical literature and parts catalogs from all of a fleet's equipment providers and gives maintenance professionals a one-stop source to quickly find all the data they need to maintain and repair their fleets.
"TMC FleetPortal was designed to address the growing problem of information overload faced by fleets that operate equipment supplied by multiple manufacturers," said Carl Kirk, TMC Executive Director and Vice President of Councils for ATA. "Fleets of all sizes have told us that one of the biggest challenges they have is managing the constant inflow of maintenance-related information from multiple manufacturers and suppliers."
Kirk said fleets currently receive information in multiple formats including paper manuals and catalogs, compact diskettes and through a variety of OEM and supplier web sites with different passwords and ways of finding data. "By aggregating maintenance data from all of a fleet's OEMs and suppliers into one browser-based database, TMC FleetPortal can significantly reduce the time fleet professionals spend searching for maintenance information," Kirk said.
"Continental DataGraphics is very pleased to have formed this alliance with ATA's Technology & Maintenance Council," said Larry Crogg, Vice President of FleetPortal Solutions for CDG. "We believe CDG's unique combination of expertise and experience in providing information management solutions to support equipment-intensive industries will allow TMC to offer the trucking industry a valuable resource to help streamline businesses processes and achieve significant operational efficiencies."
Subscribers can access all data relevant to a particular vehicle or equipment unit, including parts catalogs, TMC recommended practices, service bulletins, parts information letters, repair and maintenance manuals, written diagnostic procedures and service updates, along with other internal information generated by individual fleet operators.
TMC is North America's premier professional society for truck maintenance, information technology, and logistics professionals. Its membership of more than 2,200 individuals is dedicated to the improvement of equipment and support technologies, maintenance and maintenance management.
TMC is a technical council of American Trucking Associations, the largest national trade association for the trucking industry. Through a federation of other trucking groups, industry-related conferences and its 50 affiliated state trucking associations, ATA represents more than 37,000 members covering every type of motor carrier in the United States.
