Among topics covered in the interview is ZAP's recent purchase order to smart GmbH, a division of Mercedes Benz, for $1 billion worth of Smart Cars. ZAP sent the purchase order to smart GmbH following higher-than-expected U.S. consumer demand for the vehicle. In the interview, Mr. Schneider clarifies recent market confusion surrounding the status of ZAP's relations with smart GmbH parent Mercedes Benz, itself a division of German-American automaker DaimlerChrysler.

In the interview, Mr. Schneider discussed a March 21, 2005, meeting with senior management of smart GmbH, which led to ZAP's delivery of the purchase order to the Smart Car maker. Mr. Schneider also elaborated on ZAP's delivery strategy, which focuses on multiple channels for supply of the Smart Car.

"Our business plan has never relied on an exclusive relationship with Mercedes Benz and smart GmbH," said Mr. Schneider. "It has always been to get the vehicles from other importers, of which we have many at our disposal." ZAP has recently announced that non-Mercedes suppliers and importers have offered to provide ZAP approximately half a billion dollars worth of Smart Cars. Mr. Schneider said ZAP is also conducting meetings with tier one auto manufacturers - the same manufacturers who produce cars for major auto companies - to increase its capacity to Americanize Smart Cars.

In the interview, Mr. Schneider also discussed recent milestones in ZAP's growth strategy to be the leading U.S. portal for high efficiency and low-emission advanced transportation and energy products. ZAP is a pioneer in the zero-emission and advanced technology vehicle marketplace, and is continuing initiatives to bring improved electric and hybrid transportation solutions to the U.S. ZAP is also developing next-generation hydrogen-fuel cells for zero-emission electric vehicles.

Among other key products mentioned in the interview are ZAP's innovative multi-use batteries for electronic products that deliver up to four times the power of typical batteries, using unique flex-voltage features to charge or power a variety of devices, including cell phones and laptops. ZAP's flex-voltage batteries can enable users of laptop computers and other mobile technologies to reduce the number of batteries and transformers they must lug along when they travel.
