Samsung Electronics the top mobile phone seller in China: report
(Asia In Focus Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)SEOUL, June 5 Asia in Focus - South Korean electronics giant SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO. (KSE:005930) has been the top mobile phone seller in China since mid-2004, a report showed Monday, outperforming global handset leader NOKIA CORP. and other competitors. Samsung Electronics enjoys a 10.7 per cent share of the Chinese mobile phone market for the 100 best-selling models in the world's most populous country, according to the report by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI).
* The report was based on sales figures for mobile phones sold by foreign and local handset manufacturers over the past two years, the KISTI said.
* Nokia and MOTOROLA INC. rank second and third, respectively, but the report did not mention their market shares.
