TransAlta reaches tentative deal with workers, easing strike threat
(Canadian Press (delayed) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) EDMONTON _ A tentative agreement with 500 electrical workers has eased the threat of a strike at TransAlta(TSX:TA) over the summer.
The members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 254 had voted overwhelmingly in favour of job action.
But the agreement reached this week means they'll now be holding a ratification vote in the coming weeks.
The employees do maintenance and operations work at TransAlta power facilities in the Edmonton area.
